A gorgeous solid Indian silver spirit measure/jigger in the shape of a mini tankard, this unusual item dates from the Victorian era and was made by Peter Orr.

Peter Orr and his brother Alexander originally hailed from Scotland and travelled to Madras in 1843. The two brothers took over the silversmith business Gordon & Co and turned it into the largest and best appointed silversmith company in India.
 
The measure is one-sixth of a pint (approx 30ml) which is one-fifth of a gill and weighs 50g.
 
Great vintage condition, marked '  P Orr & Sons Madras' to the base.
